Funding/Grant Guidelines

501(c)(3) Status

As a 501(c)(3), the Berry Foundation is exclusively charitable. All organizations that the Berry Foundation funds must have a 501(c)(3) status.

Community / Board Initiated Grants

Many of the grants given by the Berry Foundation are solicited from community organizations or directly from individual board members. The requests are evaluated on their fit with the values, vision and mission of the foundation.

Annual Gifts

Annual grants should be reviewed every 3 years to ensure that the board continues to believe the grants fit the mission and vision, and there is an appropriate relationship maintained with the organizations and the organizations continue to be deemed efficient and trustworthy with the funds given.

Prohibited Grants

The Berry Foundation does not give directly to schools, unless the school meets the criteria of the values, vision and mission of the Berry Foundation. The Berry Foundation does not give to election campaigns that support or oppose candidates for public office.
